Breeding Report: Nothobranchius pienaariWater conditions: Neutral, 24-27oC
Spawning Method: Peat (or similar) spawning substrate
Breeding problems: Skewed sex ratio
Sex ratio: Somewhat female heavy
Breeding difficulty: Average
Success: Very successful
Other Comments: The somewhat female heavy sex ratio is actually a benefit for breeding. I breed my Nothos in 10 - 20 gallon tanks with multiple peat containers for spawning. I utilize floating spawning mops in the tanks to create line of sight breaks and hiding places for resting females. Eggs are collected every 2-3 weeks.
